About

Hi! I'm the Certified Compassion Fatigue Educator who created THE COMPASSION IN BALANCE program and, since 2014, I've taught over a thousand students my resilience-building framework, so that they can confidently tackle the challenges of working in animal welfare.

“Jessica has a unique ability to combine evidenced-based practices and important theoretical frameworks with the front-line needs of employees and management. She infused everything she does with a sense of curiosity, empathy, and expertise. The value she added to our organization has made her one of the most respected experts in the field of workplace stress, compassion fatigue, and self-care. She is my go to resource.” ― Nathan Brisby, ASPCA Learning & Development

I’m a Certified Compassion Fatigue Educator (CCFE) via The Figley Institute and I'm always continuing to learn via ongoing training through Tend Academy, the International Association of Trauma Professionals, and other programs.

I hold a Master of Science in Adult and Higher Education degree and I'm an adjunct faculty member at The University of Florida Shelter Medicine Online Program.

After more than 15 years of working with animals in a variety of environments, from animal shelters and animal welfare non-profits to community support programs, it’s an honor to be in a position to support your staff.

Some of the organizations I have worked with include: University of Florida’s Maddie’s® Shelter Medicine Program, ASPCA, The Academy of Dog Trainers, International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, Michigan State University’s Veterinary Medical Center, Maine Medical Center, New England Dog Training Club, and BAD RAP.
